Dear Colleague:
We are pleased to advise you that effective with the January 2002 issue a subscription to The American Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS) will be provided to all active AAOS Fellows. The JBJS now becomes part of the extensive complement of AAOS benefits of membership that also includes the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS) and Orthopaedic Knowledge Online (OKO). With this addition and other AAOS member benefits, such as the Annual Meeting, your AAOS is now able to provide orthopaedic surgeons with the most comprehensive and diverse orthopaedic knowledge that exists anywhere.
This rich education resource directly relates to the mission and vision of the Academy to be the prime source of continuing medical education for the practicing orthopaedic surgeon and to be "the authoritative source of information" on musculoskeletal care "for the highest quality of musculoskeletal health". The Academy and JBJS have worked closely during this past year to bring this "value added" subscription as a benefit of membership to all active AAOS Fellows. The new features, which have been added to JBJS in the last two years, create an important knowledge resource for orthopaedic surgeons. The top-notch scientific articles, the ever-popular Instructional Course Lectures and Current Concepts Reviews are now complemented by the recurring features of Evidence-Based Orthopaedics, Ethics in Practice, and Subspecialty Updates. Every quarter a 50-question review examination will enable you to qualify for up to 10 hours of Category 1 CME credits. In addition, the Orthopaedic Forum creates an opportunity for the exchange of important ideas in orthopaedics, whether they be scientific, socioeconomic, or political in nature. The print version is further enhanced on-line (www.jbjs.org) with video supplements, commentary and perspectives on published articles, image quizzes, and much more.
JBJS is your journal. The Journal staff welcome your participation through submission of articles and commentary, in either the print or the electronic version. JBJS is here to serve your needs. Please help us to meet this important objective.
Cordially,
James D. Heckman, M.D.
Editor-in-Chief, JBJS
Richard H. Gelberman, M.D.
President, AAOS
