Abstract

1. A very definite expansion of the interavertebral disc occurs upon its removal from the body, with further expansion when the annulus fibrosis is sectioned, the average being one and eight-hundredths millimeters.

2. An appreciable amount of pressure is required to reduce this expansion, the average being thirty and two-tenths pounds.
