Abstract

This is the first case to be reported of an acute osteomyelitis developing at the site of a recent compression fracture.

The hematogenous infection was caused by a streptococcus, possibly metastatic from a gingivitis.

The treatment was conservative with sulfanilamide medication, which was apparently successful until an overwhelming acute pyelonephritis deranged the patient's resistance and brought about a fatal termination.
