Abstract

Two cases of the unusual combined injury of fracture of the femoral neck and dislocation of the hip have been presented. One personal case was followed for a period of seven years after operative reduction and primary fixation by a bone graft. After nearly five years of unlimited activity, necrosis and severe arthritis developed.

The author believes that primary removal of the femoral head, followed by a reconstruction operation, is justified.
