Abstract

Joint xanthoma is suggested by the presence of a chronic mono-articular lesion (often a palpable tumor) of the knee or ankle. Aspiration produces sterile serosanguineous exudate, sometimes laden with cholesterol. The roentgenograms show a non-calcified soft-tumor mass in advanced cases, associated with pressure erosion of the bone.
