Aspiration biopsy is a method by which a high percentage of accurate diagnoses may be obtained, provided that the correct technique is followed and the material is examined by specialized pathologists.
Of 1,061 aspirations, results were positive in 84.35 per cent.
The method, which is simple, carries no risk to the patient and does not exclude other methods of diagnosis.
It is particularly useful in deep locations such as the vertebral bodies or the pelvis.
Aspiration biopsy of vertebral bodies may be considered as a definite advance which, because of its simplicity and safety, should become an accepted method of diagnosis.
