Injuries to the meniscus of the temporomandibular joint are more common than is ordinarily supposed. The primary treatment of such an injury should be conservative in nature, including careful evaluation of the injury and correction of the patient's bite by a dentist. If a conservative regimen of therapy fails to produce the desired results, then meniscectomy of the temporomandibular joint is indicated.

A series of forty-four cases in which operations were performed is presented, with a discussion of the operative technique and postoperative care. Good results may be anticipated from surgical treatment.
