Abstract

A case of false aneurysm arising from a branch of the profunda femoris artery is presented. It was apparently caused by a protruding screw used with a Jewett nail to fix an intertrochanteric fracture. Repeated hemorrhages and wound infection persisted until the aneurysm was recognized and the arterial defect was repaired.
