Abstract

Perforation of the bowel as a complication of surgery for herniated intervertebral disc is rare. A case is reported in which laceration of the ileum and peritonitis were confirmed by laparotomy. Disc-space infection and subsequent spontaneous interbody fusion were followed by satisfactory recovery.
