To the eight cases of thrombosis of the axillary artery secondary to prolonged use of crutches found in the English literature, three more are added. Treatment, conservative or operative, must first control the ischemia and then correct the basic problem by use of forearm crutches or by reconstructive procedures to eliminate the need for crutches.
