Abstract

A case report of a dislocation of the radial head in a newborn infant following a traumatic breech delivery is presented. Immediate closed reduction and immobilization in a positions of complete supination and extension for two and one-half weeks resulted in a normally functioning elbow at the age of fifteen months. Slight retardation of the secondary ossification center of the capitellum was noted, but otherwise the extremity appeared to be growing normally.

Prompt recognition and treatment are believed to be essential for normal growth and function of the elbow.
