Abstract

1. The primary aims in the management of fractures in the aged should be relief of pain, mobilization as soon as possible, and return to normal environment and activities within a reasonable time.

2. Decisions concerning fracture management should be based on the psychological and physical condition of the patient before injury.

3. Careful consideration must be given to the specific, and sometimes narrow, needs and functional limitations of the patient.
