1. Four cases of metacarpophalangeal dislocations of the fingers are presented.

4. Dislocations of the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint, which cannot be reduced by closed means, can be reduced by open means by a volar approach that avoids blind transection of the fibrocartilaginous plate.
