Abstract

Fifty-one patients with vertebral fractures of varying duration were examined by external counting over the vertebral spine after intravenous injection of 85Sr. The external counting was performed fourteen days after the isotope injection. Increased uptake of 85Sr was regularly found over fractures not older than six months. After that, the peak values fell, and practically all fractures over eighteen months displayed values within normal limits.
