This basic study of the normal vascular anatomy of the femoral head in young puppies may lend itself to a more thorough understanding of experimental hip disease in puppies. It is important to recognize the similarities in vascular supply of the hip in puppies and that seen in man. However, a comparison of the species may lead to erroneous conclusions. No clinical assumptions should be made on the basis of studies not anatomically accurate for the species used as an experimental model. Therefore, this study has attempted to enlighten investigators concerning the vascular anatomy of the hip in puppies.
