Abstract

In thirty-nine children undergoing spine fusion with Harrington instrumentation, measurement of thoracic compliance and elastance was normal in all of the twenty-nine children with idiopathic scoliosis. Compliance was low in three children with paralytic scoliosis but not in seven children with congenital scoliosis.
