A retrospective clinical and roentgenographic study was done of seven
patients who underwent Blair tibiotalar arthrodesis. The average age of the
patients was twenty-six years and the average follow-up was 3.9 years.
Results were good in five patients, fair in one, and poor in one. Results
were more closely correlated to tibiopedal motion than to anatomical
restoration. In two patients pseudarthrosis developed: painful in one and
asymptomatic in one. A good result has 16 to 20 degrees of tibiopedal
motion; a fair result, 11 to 15 degrees; and a poor result, 10 degrees or
less.
