In congenital dislocation of the hip, growth-disturbance lines as shown
radiographically regularly occur in the proximal end of the femur after
operative procedures are performed under general anesthesia. They can be
seen in children who are between the ages of six months and four years and
tend to disappear over several years. I think that the final shape of the
femoral neck can be predicted by closely observing the development and
displacement of the growth-disturbance lines that are induced at the time
of surgical treatment.
