Abstract

Traumatic division of the extensor tendons in which primary suture of the extensor tendons is contraindicated because of infection or extensive trauma to adjacent tissues can be successfully treated by tendon transplantation performed under suitable operative conditions. The extensor communis digitorum tendon of the index finger is the most suitable for transplantation purposes.
