Collet-Sicard syndrome was initially described by Collet in 1915, in a
soldier during World War I who sustained a bullet wound to the cervicocranial
region1. It includes
deficits of cranial nerves IX, X, XI, and XII, without an associated Horner
syndrome. To our knowledge, there has not been a previous report of delayed
development of Collet-Sicard syndrome following occipital condyle fracture. We
report the case of a thirty-nine-year-old man in whom lower cranial nerve
deficits developed four weeks following an undiagnosed fracture of the
occipital condyle. Our patient was informed that data concerning the case
would be submitted for publication.
