To The Editor:We read with interest the paper entitled "Unstable Nonunions of the
Distal Part of the Humerus" (2003;85:1040-6), by Ring et al. We would
like to congratulate the authors on a study that deals with the challenging
problem of distal humeral nonunion.In our view, the main concerns associated with distal humeral nonunion are
(1) poor bone quality in a relatively small distal fragment, (2) soft-tissue
contracture and scarring from multiple previous operations, and (3) the type
of internal fixation, as indicated in the Discussion section of the
article.
