Avulsion fracture of the gastrocnemius muscle is a rare injury. To our knowledge, such an injury has not been previously reported in the English-language literature. We present the case of a patient who had an avulsion fracture of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle, due to a skiing injury, that was successfully treated with open reduction and internal fixation with a screw. Our patient was informed that data concerning the case would be submitted for publication.
